Meeting Details
• Meeting point – the café Os Amigos da Carrapateira in the village of Carrapateira (on the right immediately after the traffic lights), off the N268.
• Carrapateira is in the Municipality of Aljezur, it sits on the N268 and can be accessed from via Vila do Bispo/N125 or Bensafrim/N120.
• Time – meeting from 9.30am, to allow time to sign-in, grab a coffee and stretch your legs. The walk will head out at 9.45am.
• Facilities - there is ample parking on and around the N268 in Carrapateira. We will meet outside this café but there is no guarantee that it will be open, however, there are a number of cafes in the village that advertise Sunday opening hours so we should be good for refreshments and toilet facilities. Please note there is no access to toilets once the walk has started.

Walk Details
• Walk leader – Gilly Grateley, Madrugada member and volunteer
• Distance – the walk is approx. 10kms long, it is a circular walk starting and ending at Carrapateira village.
• Pace – it should take between 2.5 to 3 hours to complete, including short stops to take on water and gather the pack.
• Terrain – mainly lanes with some off-road trails.
• The route – is gently undulating with no big hills. We head out on a trail towards Amado beach, cross the carpark and join the coastal road as it meanders round to Bordeira beach (not a major route but we usually encounter traffic). From here we head back along the road to Carrapateira. The scenery is spectacular so you may want to bring your camera.
• Essential equipment – drinking water, sunscreen and good/appropriate footwear.
• Recommended equipment includes – (depending on the weather) sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent, layers for warmth, a waterproof coat, spare socks! for some a walking stick is a good idea, especially on walks with sharper climbs or descents.
